CONSTITUTION: THE COASTAL AQUARIUM SOCIETY of SARASOTA, FLORIDA  ARTICLE 1 The name of this organization shall be the Coastal Aquarium Society, a private club. ARTICLE 2 Section I The object of this club shall be to promote interest in the keeping and breeding of tropical fishes, aquatic life and all related subjects. Section II This club shall be non-political, non-sectarian and non-profit in all its relationships. ARTICLE 3 All persons interested in tropical fish shall be eligible for membership, subject to the approval of the Executive Board. ARTICLE 4 Section I There shall be a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary. Section II The President shall be the chief executive of the Club and is responsible for the functions of the club. The Vice-President shall assist the President and preside in his absence. The Treasurer shall be responsible for all financial matters of the Club. The Recording Secretary shall be responsible for the keeping of the minutes of all meetings of the Club and of the Executive Board. The Recording Secretary shall be responsible for all Club Correspondence and the files of the same. Section III The officers shall be elected by ballot at the November meeting of each year to serve for one year or until a new officer is elected and installed in the office.The new term shall begin in January. Section 1V All candidates for office shall be members in good standing, must be eighteen years or over and must, as a member, have attended three consecutive meetings. ARTICLE 5 The Executive Board shall consist of the duly elected officers as follows: President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Recording Secretary. The last retired President shall automatically become a member of the Board. There shall be three members elected "at Large" to fill the Executive Board. ARTICLE 6 The Club shall hold regular meetings at least once a month at a time and place designated by the Executive Board. ARTICLE 7 All proposed amendments to this Constitution must be submitted in writing to a member of the Executive Board at any regular meeting of the Club. Such proposed amendments must be signed by three active members of the Club before submission. They will be referred to the Executive Board for investigation and recommendation. The recommendations of the Executive Board will be presented to the general member-ship at the next regular meeting for consideration by the general membership and will be voted on by the general membership at the following general meeting.
